Isle of Harris Distillery is the first social distillery in Scotland which aim to support the economy of Isle of Harris.

As young people left the island to seek their fortune, few were able to return to find work, set down roots and build a life in the place they called home. Isle of Harris Distillery, built for not just years but for generations, could be a way to help stem this tide. Every staff and the nosing panel at the Distillery are recruited from locals from varied background. The Distillery now have almost 40 permanent staff, a highly significant number in an island of fewer than 2000 inhabitants. 

The Distillery locates at the heart of Harris village. It has become the centre of community welcoming locals and vistors to enjoy themselves with a glass of high quality Harris Gin and local food. 

The core of Harris Gin is the Sugar Kelp seaweed, gathered sustainably by hand from local sea-lochs, as the key botanical to express Harris Island's unique maritime nature. Each Harris GIn is bottled by hand at the distillery before applying the labels and closing each one with a natural cork and wood stopper.
